After food, shelter, and clothing, mobile phones have slowly become a necessity more than a luxury. We can see today lots of these in online shops and in discounted stores. As humans are continuously searching for a way to easier life, our mobile phones enabled us to do loads of work in a short period of time. For some, it became an addiction. For most, it became more than that. Indeed, it is almost impossible to live without phones in the pocket. But what else do you know about your mobile phone? Here are some fun facts.

1. The first mobile phone: Motorola Dyna TAC 8000X. This mobile phone was invented by Martin Copper and weighed around 1.1 kilograms. The senior Motorola employee created the phone that could store 30 contacts and 30 minutes offered talk time.

2. The first mobile phone call: April 3, 1973. This first ever phone call was made by Martin himself, calling Dr. Joel S. Engel of Bell Labs. During the call, the Motorola Dyna TAC was used.

3. The first smart phone: launched in August 16, 1994 was the first ever 20 year-old smart phone in mobile history. It was made by IBM with an initial code of "Angler". Before it was officially launched, it was given the name of Simon Personal Communicator. The phone is the first commercially available touch screen phone that can be manipulated using a stylus pen or a fingertip. It also has pre-installed calendar, calculator, address book, and notepad.

4. In Japan, 90% of their mobile phones are waterproof. Since the people in Japan are so fond of using their mobile phones that they use it even while taking a bath, manufacturers have come to the idea of creating a waterproof mobile phone.

5. World's most expensive phone: 15.3 million dollars. Since now everyone has a phone, some have settled to putting their mobile phones in a different level where they put it as a luxury. For those people who can afford to buy themselves a new phone at a cost, Apple has launched its new iphone5 fully coated with 26 carat black diamond. The phone costs $15.3 million and was recorded as the world's most expensive phone.

These are just some of the fun facts in the world of mobile phones. It is good that we often check the history and development of these, and just barely use them. In time, we realize how far we've gone, how lucky we are and how much we should value the phone that is in our hands today.
