The scope of the population today having owned at least a cell phone has rapidly grown. With this, the people becoming addicted to their phones have also increased. When these gadgets were brought up to the world until it was easily sold over the Internet through online shops, its primary purpose was mere to make life as easy as it can be. Ironically, many of us today do not have a "life" just because they do not know when to turn their gadgets off.
To the most possibility, there is at least one person we know who cannot be detached to his or her cell phone. It could be someone who leaves his phone on in a place where it is prohibited in fear of missing a single call. Or someone who might be just holding his phone all - day long doing stuff instead of doing his job. Same goes with those who are uncomfortable if they forgot their phones at home and cannot focus on what they are doing until getting their phones back in their hands.
Disastrously, cell phone addiction may become the widespread and global issue as greater part of the children population are cell phone owners. On a study done in Japan, it has been realized that Japanese children didn't make friends with those who don't own cell phone. In some other studies done in different countries, statistics showed that three-quarters of Hungarian children owned cell phones. In Italy, one-quarter of the adolescents held multiple cell phones. In Great Britain, 36% of those who are in college admitted: "they cannot live without their phones" and surprisingly, 7% of them had lost a job or relationship because of their mobile use.
The question now goes as to whether cell phone addictions are no different than drug addiction as an actual addiction. Well, some things make them fall on the same ground. Cell phone addicts primarily use their phone to make them feel better. Over time, they seem to increase the time for using their phone because it gives them the same feeling as the first time they have used their phone. They also tend to develop a separation anxiety when their phones are not available. Various cases show some changes in the brain which call for another study about the brain of a cell phone addict.
So if you are worried about someone you know being a cell phone addict, you may have to look for the hints yourself. They are those who cannot stand without their phones for a length of time. They may also belong to those who are easily irritated when someone does not answer his calls or text messages quick enough. He does not turn his phone off, even when he is asked to and thinks of nothing but going home whenever the phone is left at home.
If this sounds like someone you know, now is the time to take action. If it is your children having a premium phone plan, maybe you can drop it to the basics with the limited access to the internet. They may not like it, but honestly, they'll soon be used to the adjustments over time.
Cell phones nowadays are vital in making life easy, but we should also remember the life that is existing and still waiting without them.
